First, insert CD into the CD-reader tray. To open the CD, double-click on "My Computer" on your desktop. There you should see CD-Rom drive which, in most cases, will be the "D" drive. It may have a small CD icon next to it. Double-click on this drive letter and it will reveal several small icons and four folders. You may disregard these folders at this time.
To Start the TCS Digital Wheel program, double-click on the pink diamond icon (with words DCW.exe) underneath it.
The four icons you see are all you need to get full use of the Digital Color Wheel program.
The icon of a notebook page with words Readme.txt are instructional. You can double-click on this icon and it will open additional instructions about the program using your word processor. You can print these pages for future reference.
To see the thirteen (13) pages of additional information which go with the Teaching Guide and Session Planner, double-click on the Samples.pdf icon. (This should automatically open Acrobat Reader and allow you to read and or print the pages. If it does not, then you need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader from www.adobe.com )

Quick Time is the program that is used to operate the fifteen (15) streaming videos which are included on the Digital Color wheel CD-Rom. We chose it because it is the most widely distributed internet Video player available. It is developed and distributed by Apple Corporation for Windows Systems as well as all Macintosh Systems. It does not have to be downloaded if you use any Macintosh system because it is included in the Mac operating system. However, it is not automatically included with Windows OS and must be downloaded. If you are a Windows user, be sure to "choose" Windows Version of Quicktime when you download. You can download the latest version from this web site. www.quicktime.com
QuickTime Video plays on more Windows systems than Macintosh just because there are so many more Windows systems in use. Don't feel strange because we are asking you to put an Apple product on your Windows system. Apple freely distributes this software for MS Windows and works digilenty to gain your trust. They want Quick Time on every Windows system eventually.
Upgrading The First DCW Version 1.1.
If you own DCW version 1.1 and wish to upgrade to the full version two, you can earn a $19.99 credit by returning the CD with your order. Mail the CD along with $25, check or Credit Card information to Tru-Color Systems. See complete order information direct from Tru-Color Systems.

We have had these QuickTime videos playing successfully on Windows 95 / 98 & Mac systems for several months. It is just a matter of getting the correct configuration and a successful installation of QuickTime.
This only effects the 15 Videos, not any other portion of the program. Color Application, Color Education, Tour and Welcome all operate without QuickTime. The operation of the color wheel, color scheme development and painting the patterns are fully operational without Quicktime. So, if you do not want to download Quick Time right now, then don't. Wait until you are ready to do it or have someone help you at a later time.
Here is what we recommend. If you do not have Quicktime already installed, we do know that QuickTime 4 is not the latest version. It was when we released the DCW. We recommend that you download the latest version directly from the Apple website.
Go the the Quicktime web site, www.quicktime.com then select the Download link. (or go directly there http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ ). Choose "For Windows", register and download to a directory you have created to "hold" this file. This file is about 489 kb and titled Quick TimeInstaller.exe
Stay On Line: When the download is complete, double click on the title, Quick TimeInstaller.exe, and follow directions. It will install automatically after you answers some questions. It is a free player for these videos.
The important thing to understand is that even after you download QuickTime, that is only the "template" for the Real Quicktime download. You must be "On The Internet" when you use the QuickTime installer.exe. It goes back to the Quicktime web site, downloads and installes a 5.5 Meg file which is the Real Quicktime program.
This has already been successfully done by DCW users for windows 95, 98, and ME. As we learn more we will post it here first.***

The DCW program automatically opens to a full screen and covers the Minimize, Restore, and Close screen controls located in the upper right corner of the screen. It may also be desirable to expose the task bar so other programs can also be open at the same time as DCW. You can do this when the program is open.
With DCW program open to full screen, Touch the "Escape" key. This reduces the DCW window size just like the Minimize control. Now , resize the window with mouse, leaving the controls and Task Bar exposed. You can now "park" the DCW and other programs on the "Task Bar" as you desire.
Resizing the Window and exposing the Windows Task Bar.
We wish we could have provided that feature "scanned input" in this version. We tried to find compatable software which would allow this but we do not know of any program which will convert a scanned vector image code to what we need. Right now each pattern you see was scanned then hand converted for this software. However, don't be discouraged we are still working on it.
